Loving... This Week

Sometimes things stick in my mind throughout the week. Projects, features rooms, and homes that make me take a second look. Here are a few of my favorites!

Welcome to Heardmont's Master Bathroom Reveal.
You have to head over and check out all the pictures including the before shots!

The Design Pages' Striped Dresser.
It was also featured on Design Sponge yesterday!

Not only do I find it cool, but I witnessed an attempt to make something similar not too long ago...
I can appreciate the time that went into it!

Corina's Hollywood Glamour House Tour.
Featured this week on Apartment Therapy.
Maybe a little more glam than I normally like, but how can you deny it's romance?

Kirsten of 6th Street Design School's Home Sweet Home
feature in Adore Magazine (an issue I "adored".. definitely worth a read!)

A free project using vellum paper, a pen, a couple of prints and some frames from around the house
I am in love with Vintage Printables too, although it's a bit frustrating to navigate.

Phew! I could go on and one! There are so many more!

Have a great weekend!

Trois Amours ~ Danielle Oakey Interiors

I'm thrilled to welcome Danielle today from the blog Danielle Oakey Interiors to share the 3 things that make her house a home. She is an incredible designer with the ability to create beautiful rooms on a budget. A true inspiration for me! Visit her blog and check out her house tour here!

*******************************************************

Hi, I am Danielle from Danielle Oakey Interiors.
I am so happy to show you around my little home.

One of the most important spaces in my home has always been my master bedroom.
Having a place to escape at the end of the day is crucial.
Naturally, my favorite place is my bed!

I am crazy about white bedding, overstuffed pillows, and upholstered headboards!

I also could not live without mood lighting and never miss an opportunity to turn on my lamps. Give me a dimmer and I am on cloud 9!

My dining room chandelier is the star light fixture in my home.
I purchased it on Craigslist for $50.00 and I love it.
It adds the perfect glow, sparkle, and glam to my dining room.

My home would feel lifeless without color!
I l-o-v-e color.
My bright yellow credenza from Ikea sure brightens up my living room.

I also want to add some more color to my sofa with some spicy throw pillows.
yum.

Thanks so much for having me!

Danielle

Thanks Danielle! I've always loved that yellow credenza.
Doesn't it add the perfect pop of color to her fun living room? And you have to check out the new pillows she made herself! They even have piping!:)

Painted Pretties.

While deciding on a color to paint my new coffee table and giving my new side table a fun coat of navy, I've been eyeing up some great painted furniture pieces that I've come across this week.

I will likely stick with white, but I admire the bold finishes by the people behind these painted pretties!

Decor and the Dog's dresser went from blonde to grey.
This is one piece of furniture I would have walked right by, but it looks incredible with a coat of paint!

Little Green Notebook's Silver-Leafed Cabinet. I love the blue color.. reminds me of the one in my own living room. I think she said she's going to change the color this week though:)

k.f.d designs stunning lacquered yellow chair. Love. I loved her living room before, but for me, I think this chair simply makes the updated look!

This cabinet that Cassie breathed new life into for a client. It turned out great!
Be sure to check out her link party today at Primitive & Proper for more great furniture projects.

Guest Bedroom ~ Bits and Pieces

I've mentioned it before, but when I moved into the house, I painted the spare bedroom and never really decorated. It has become a bit of a drop zone for baskets of clean laundry and clutter and is driving me crazy!

Slowly, I've been picking away at the room. Here is a peak at some of the progress:

A thrifted bedside table got a coat of paint. I'm totally digging navy blue these days.
The color is Navy Blazer by Debbie Travis.

*it looks royal blue in this light, but it's actually much darker

And a couple of new navy striped pillows. Using my new sewing skills these days!

a starburst mirror from my entrance found a new home in the room:

I added some navy trim to a simple cream drum shade:

It's starting to come together, but not quite there just yet. Be patient, I'll post a reveal soon!

I WON, I WON!

Just had to share! I NEVER win anything!
I entered Desire to Decorate's Home Depot Giveaway and I actually won :)

Now to decide what I want to spend my $50 gift card on... hmmmm...

Have you seen their new design themes?

Thanks Wendy!
Head over and check out her beautiful blog!

March Break Finds.

One of my goals during the March Break was to seek out some good finds at the local antique and used furniture stores. I didn't have much luck on my first trip out. Then, on the weekend I hit up Coulson's (my favorite) and had a little success!

I scored this great coffee table for $10. Although I love my diy upholstered ottoman, it drives me crazy that I can't set my glass of vino or cup of coffee on it. And, every time Beaufort walks by it, a trail of fur appears on the sides. Besides, I love to switch things up, so it just may make an appearance again.

The table is a good size for the space and I'm enamoured with it's sleek curvy legs. Can't wait to see it with a coat of glossy white paint!
Call me crazy, but I couldn't walk away from this one. For $5 I had to take this little metal cart home. I think it was used to hold a record player. I'm thinking it will make a great bar cart in the dining room or in my office to hold supplies.

Wouldn't it be fun painted a sunny yellow? Or should I just leave it and shine it up a bit?

How cute is Beaufort? He just loves the sun on his face:)

Back to work today! Have a great Monday:)

Loving, This Week...

It has been one of those weeks were I thought I was going to get so much done! Sadly, that didn't happen. However, I did spend lots of time with people I love and I feel rested and ready to go back to work (Ok.. not really, but kinda..)
Here are some of my favorite things from around the blogosphere this week, from some of my more productive blogger friends:)

Amber Interior's DIY cloud art. She took pictures of clouds and had them blown up for $30 and placed in a Ribba frame. Here is a glimpse in her amazing dining room.

One smart girl! Check out her awesome blog here.

Elsa's home tour over at Made by Girl! This girl is not afraid to use color and it totally works.

Her blog is great too, so head over and check it out!

Danielle Oakey's master bedroom makeover. I love the frames over her dresser. The whole room is so fresh and bright and she did it all for $585. I really like it and it's inspired me to get going on finishing my guest room!

Check out her blog here.

Maybe I'll get a rush of inspiration and a kick and the butt to create something wonderful to share... but for now, it's fun to be inspired by all the talent out there! I am impressed every single day!

Enjoy the weekend everyone. Cross your fingers that the snow that fell last night doesn't stick around:)

Trois Amours ~ Flights of Whimsy

I'm so happy to welcome Brandi today from Flight of Whimsy to share that three things that make her house a home! I recently disovered her blog and love her artwork.. so pretty!

Hey there Modern Jane Readers! It's Brandi from Flights of Whimsy! I'm new to Jane and her blog so I was delighted when she asked me to participate in Trois Amours series! I love making new friends in the blogosphere.

My #1 love right now is my formal dining room. It's the only mostly finished room in the house so naturally I'm smitten with it!

My husband and I bought our 1980's ranch almost two years ago and the decorating process has, at best, been very slow. Partly because I wanted to take my time figuring things out, partly due to lack of funds and partly because of all the DIY projects it takes!

The table was a clearance purchase from Pier 1, my mom and I made the curtains with fabric from Mood, the chairs I purchased on craigslist and repainted and upholstered them.

#2 Amour is the striking Art Deco mirror I got for a song.

It was a score from my old boss when she moved back to NYC. I bought it along with an amazing dresser for a mere $200 for both!

It's had many locations throughout the house, but I think it's here to stay on this wall in our living room. I just love how unique and striking it is. I probably could have never afforded it from a vintage store so I feel especially grateful to call it mine.

And lastly #3 (it's so hard to choose!) is this painting I made.

See a tutorial on how to make this here!

It's the first piece of artwork I have ever really done and I couldn't be more happy with the results. It was mostly an experiment that I was fully expecting to go horribly awry. Like other things in my house, it hasn't found it's permanent home yet but since purple and gray are my favorite colors it can happily saunter from room to room in my house! I've since made another version for Christine from Bijou and Boheme that turned equally fantastic.

Thanks for having me Jane!
